Ruth Lister, Citizenship. Feminist Perspectives (2003)

Although ‘citizenship studies’ is a relatively new field in the social sciences, it has grown very rapidly since the late 1980s. The first edition of Ruth Lister’s Citizenship in 1997 was a welcome synthesis of pioneer feminist contributions and itself articulated a strong critique of mainstream gender-biased theoretical work. This second edition reflects the rapid evolution of the field in less than a decade, as well as the influence of new paradigms such as global citizenship.
