Description
The Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur la diversité et la démocratie (CRIDAQ) launches its support competition for candidates who will apply to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship and/or the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) Postdoctoral Fellowship competitions. The results of our competition will be communicated to you before the SSHRC and FRQSC submission deadlines so that our support may improve your applications.
This CRIDAQ support competition will give the opportunity to a maximum of two (2) students who want to do a postdoctoral internship at CRIDAQ to receive the official support of the Centre and a $5,000 grant per fellow (paid as a salary* – to be adjusted according to the duration of the internship). This supplement is conditional on the award of a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship or an FRQSC Postdoctoral Fellowship.
The internship must be used to conduct a postdoctoral research project related to one of the 3 research axes (or within the Observatoire) of the Centre (see the Research tab on CRIDAQ’s website), in one of the Quebec universities associated with CRIDAQ and under the direction of a regular member of CRIDAQ.
* Note that in addition to mandatory deductions (federal, provincial tax, etc.), social benefits will also be deducted from this amount. The net amount received is therefore less than $ 5,000 and varies according to the tax standards in effect.
Conditions of participation
- Meet all criteria for the SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and/or FRQSC competition;
- Have sufficient knowledge of French to be able to participate in CRIDAQ activities;
- The doctoral thesis must not have been written under the supervision of researchers who are regular members of CRIDAQ (see our list of members on CRIDAQ’s website).
The CRIDAQ commits to offer the winner:
- A supplementary $5,000 grant (to be adjusted according to the duration of the internship);
- A formal letter of support signed by the Director of CRIDAQ, if required by the funding agency;
- Integration into CRIDAQ’s network, access to its resources, as well as privileged access to its members and administrative team;
- Depending on the location of the internship, an individual workstation in the university to which he/she will be affiliated;
- Access to the infrastructure of the university to which he/she will be affiliated (for example: library);
- Assistance with the organization of the stay.
In return, the winner commits to:

- Excellence of the academic record and the candidate’s ability to contribute to CRIDAQ’s activities and outreach
- Must be fluent in French.
Application file (a single unified PDF paginated in the order presented), to be submitted in the following form
- A letter of motivation in which the candidate indicates, in particular, to which partner universities he/she wishes to be attached and with which CRIDAQ researcher(s) he/she wishes to work more specifically;
- A letter from the regular researcher(s) concerned confirming their interest in supervising the work of the applicant;
- A curriculum vitae;
- A recent text (publication (article or chapter) or academic work); note that the submitted text must be written in French or English;
